For research into an essay that responded to a brief to compare a domestic object from the 20th and 21st centuries I compared the film Design For Dreaming made for General Motors Motorama Autoshow from 1956 and The Thermomix T5 – a multi-functional kitchen appliance – released by Velolux in 2014. Through visual and functional analysis I investigate the eery similarities in the two "kitchens" demonstrating the lack of development in the ideologies that surround the kitchen, consumer culture and gendered stereotypes within the home.
